For decades, the Left has been fighting and winning the culture war.
Since the Sexual Revolution of the 60s, the Left has captured and changed American institutions and American minds. The joke is, “Today’s conservatives are fighting to protect what yesterday’s progressives fought to change.”
But things always change. The calm and patience of the old Left have been replaced with the rage and riots of screaming commies. Leftist zealots have taken over the fight, and they are quickly losing the war.
I was reading through William S. Lind’s 4th Generation Warfare Handbook again. Lind’s observations about fourth gen war apply to the culture war today. The primary principle of the book is that in fourth generation conflicts, the physical, mental, and moral aspects of war matter more than than strategic, operational, and tactical victories. Strategic, operational, and tactical victories are necessary, but not sufficient to win. Winning requires moral victory as well.
Remember Trayvon Martin? That was eight years ago. I’d say that was when the leftist zealots started taking over the culture war and subsequently started losing. Then there was Ferguson in 2014. Two years later, the unimaginable happened, and Americans elected Donald Trump as the next President.
The hysteria over Trayvon Martin was based on lies. The riots in Ferguson were based on lies. When President Trump took office, the media spent the next four years creating and disseminating lies to try to destroy him and his supporters.
Then came the Kavanaugh hearings. That’s when several establishment Republicans realized that the Democrats were playing a different game. You would think the Republicans would have remembered the Clarence Thomas or Robert Bork hearings, but sometimes it takes a while for people to learn.
Earlier this year, George Floyd died while being taken into custody. That sparked the latest round of BLM riots. Since most leftists live in bubbles and think they are in control of the narrative, they went all in on lying.
Americans watched commies riot and burn various downtowns across the country. We saw businesses forced to shut down and people lose their income. Grandma and grandpa are seeing all those videos of commies with bullhorns terrorizing people at restaurants on social media. Liars, arsonists, thieves, and bullies don’t win the moral high ground. They don’t win hearts and minds.
The strange thing is that so many political leaders and corporate CEOs jumped on the BLM bandwagon, promoted the lies, and defended the rioters and bullies. Did they believe the lie, too? Do they still? Do they think Americans are rubes who can be duped forever? Did they think riots would win people to their cause? Do they know Americans at all?
No. No, they don’t.
The Left lies to itself, too. They see themselves as revolutionaries fighting against the State, but they are the State. The commies are the bullies. They are the soldiers kicking doors down in villages and scaring the townfolk, and they have already lost.
While the Left has been working hard to lose the moral high ground in this fight, the Right has been working on improving their mental game. The Left can’t meme, but the Right sure as hell can.
Republican politicians and conservative thought leaders have also realized, thanks mostly to President Trump, that this is a war for the American soul. You can’t win a war if you refuse to fight.
To that end, it seems like President Trump will nominate yet another judge to the Supreme Court of the United States. Lefties are crying and whining about “political norms,” but the Republicans don’t care. Americans don’t care anymore, either. Another SCOTUS nominee could be an important strategic victory.
We’ll see. Until then, keep fighting the good fight.
“Then came the Kavanaugh hearings. That’s when several establishment Republicans realized that the Democrats were playing a different game. You would think the Republicans would have remembered the Clarence Thomas or Robert Bork hearings, but sometimes it takes a while for people to learn.”
This was when the lies became so bad, so over the top, that the Republicans realized that the rules were changing. Based on their continued “go along to get along” attitude, I think they still have some learnin to do.
This is a great explanation of what we are seeing around us, keep up the strong insight!
Thanks for reading. I’ll do my best.

Although The Closing of the American Mind is not one of my favorite books, here’s the snippet that most stands out in my memory: The Left is the faction of modern philosophy. The Right is the faction of (mostly religious) resistance to modern philosophy.
And by “modern philosophy” they mean chaos and disorder. The Left is opposed to the ordered universe created by God.
