You might be stressing out over Thanksgiving because it’s a big starchy midweek meal often accompanied by some hard to resist desserts. Does it fit your macros? Will it blow your diet? Will it kill all the hard work you’ve done to cut fat?
I’m hear to let you know that you don’t have to worry about it. No matter what your diet is, one meal will not make or break it.  You should be planning ahead though in order to make the most of this meal without guilt. Here’s some tips to help ease your mind and make this feast work for your goals.
Are you bulking? This is the perfect meal for you, and you’re probably not worried about it. Anybody who’s into bodybuilding will choose to bulk during winter. You’ve got a lot of sweet holiday treats. A lot of big family meals. Plus you’re wearing layered clothes, and with the cold weather, you’re less apt to get out and do cardio. Its God’s will for you to bulk during the colder months between Thanksgiving and Easter.  My only suggestion to you is to do your best to get in a brutal workout the day before or even the day of. Feed those hungry muscles with this huge meal.
Are you trying to maintain or cut? Maybe you won’t bulk until later in the winter. You can still minimize the damage from this high calorie, high carb meal. You can start by making this a planned cheat meal. It also helps to get in that brutal workout, while keeping particularly low calories and carbs the days before. The idea is to make your body want to store these calories in muscle rather than fat. To really seal the deal, about 15 minutes before the meal starts, grab some dumbbells and do some high intensity lunges for a solid two minutes.
Just remember to enjoy your Thanksgiving. Don’t worry about it. If there are no other days in the year to really cut loose as dieting goes, they have to be Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter.
