How About More Protestants on SCOTUS?

Ruth Bader Ginsberg is dead.

The Supreme Court of the United States now has eight members and we know we can’t count on Roberts to support the Right or Western values. If we could count on him, we’d be in a better position, but we can’t. President Trump should nominate a replacement, and the Senate should confirm the appointment before Election Day.

Social media is ablaze with emotion and commentary. The emotional reaction is mostly coming from the Left in the forms profile pics of Mrs. Ginsberg, f-bombs, and threats. The commentary is coming from the Right providing good arguments on why the President should appoint and the Senate should confirm. This a fight and our side better fight. (Maybe I’ve seen some posts expressing certain feelings of joy from the Right. I might have even made a couple celebratory posts. It’s understandable.)

According to InfoGalactic.com, when the Supreme Court was established in 1789, the first members were almost uniformly Protestant. That makes sense, because the majority of the nation were Protestants.

What doesn’t make sense is the fact that the majority of the nation is still Protestant, yet there is only one Protestant* on the Court. Here’s the current makeup of the Court:

That’s five Catholics, two Jews, and one *Protestant, yet Catholic. Yet, the United States is still more than 50% Protestant. Now, I don’t have anything against Catholics, per se. Judge Thomas has been a staunch supporter of traditional American values. Judge Kavanaugh helped stick it to Soros – Kavanaugh Pens SCOTUS Decision: Foreign Organizations in U.S. Do Not Have First Amendment Protections. I like Judge Gorsuch, too. He appears to prefer to follow the law rather than make up new ones.

The religious makeup of Congress, on the other hand, is more representative of American religious values. Here are stats from Pew’s Faith on the Hill from last year.

If SCOTUS was representative of American religious values, we’d have four Protestants, two unaffiliated, two Catholics, and maybe a Jew or a Mormon. Relative to their percentage of the population, Catholics and Jews are drastically over represented on the Court.

The question is, “Why is there only one Protestant* currently on the Supreme Court of the United States?” Maybe the answer is innocuous. Maybe it isn’t. Either way, beliefs matter and religious beliefs matter.

President Trump should nominate a conservative, Protestant originalist to fill Mrs. Bader’s seat. The Senate should confirm the appointment before election day.

WASPs founded this country, after all.

American son of the Appalachian mountains. Happily married father of several and devoted man of God. Hold fast.

  1. The Roman Catholic clergy have openly aided and abetted the invasion of this country by 90 million foreigners since 1965, the bulk of them nominally Catholic. Should we be surprised that they have infiltrated the judiciary as well? They aim to destroy America by invasion much as the American left does by treachery.

There is a place for Catholics in this country and that place is Maryland.

  2. Yay, more Prot/Cath sniping. Is that what we need? Who gives a shit? Lombardi once said “God, family, and the Green Bay Packers, in that order.” Find a man like that, and we can decide later whether or not we want the windows of the church to be stained glass.

    • This has no usable critique beyond “dont’ say mean things about Catholics.” Did you even read the article? He did not say that there should be NO RCC justices. He just said that it should match the citizenship.

  3. Deuteronomy 28, verse 15: But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:
Verse 43: The stranger that is within thee shall get up above thee very high; and thou shalt come down very low.

  4. There would be no USA or England if not for Catholics fighting and beating Muslim invaders. What did the first Protestants do? They tried to get the Turks to take over Europe. English Protestants also let Freemasons and Zionists take over their whole land and money supply.

Yes many Catholics are liberal and the Pope is a globalist, but if not for Catholics, western civilization would have died 1300 years ago.
