If nothing else, the Bitcoin and other crypto-currencies have helped bring the topic of cryptography to the normies, if only on a superficial level, but that’s how the Internet began its movement into everyday parlance. And look at how things are now! Hahaha–hmm.
Anyway, here’s a little primer for those that want to get a better grasp on cryptography and have some background in programming and the computer science field. Impress your in-laws at dinner when you say, “128-bits? I suppose, but really, for the little extra processing power, you should use 256-bits and avoid an accidentally collision. Yes, quite so,” then retire for a snifter of brandy with the Old Man.
